3. Data Collection on This Website

Hosting with IONOS

Our website is hosted by IONOS SE (Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur). When you visit this website, IONOS records various log files including IP addresses. This data is technically necessary in order to display the website and to ensure its stability and security. According to IONOS, IP addresses are anonymised after a short time.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and fast provision of the online service).

Data Processing Agreement

We have concluded a data processing agreement (DPA) with IONOS. This ensures that IONOS processes the personal data of website visitors only in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.

Server Log Files

The provider automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser transmits automatically:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL (the previously visited page)
  • Hostname of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request
  • IP address

This data is not merged with other data sources.

Enquiries by Email or Telephone

If you contact us by email or telephone, your enquiry, including all personal data arising from it (name, enquiry), will be stored and processed for the purpose of handling your request. We do not pass on this data without your consent.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the effective handling of enquiries).

4. Analytics Tools

IONOS WebAnalytics

This website uses the analytics services of IONOS WebAnalytics. IONOS uses technologies for analysis that do not store cookies on your device. Log files and pixel data are analysed (anonymised IP address, browser, visited page, dwell time). Since the IP address is immediately anonymised, no conclusions about individuals are possible. There is no merging with other data sources and no disclosure to third parties.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the statistical analysis for website optimisation).

5. Plugins & External Media

This website uses content from third-party providers to offer an interactive experience (videos, 3D models).

Sketchfab (3D Models)

We use the Sketchfab service to display 3D models of our exhibits (project "Time Crank"). The provider is Sketchfab, Inc., 440 9th Ave, Suite 1700, New York, NY 10001, USA.

Data transfer to the USA: Sketchfab is a US-based provider. When the 3D model is activated, personal data (e.g. IP address) is transferred to the USA. The USA is currently classified by the European Court of Justice as a country with an inadequate level of data protection by EU standards.

Consent: The 3D models are only loaded when you actively consent (clicking "Load content" or accepting in the cookie banner). By clicking, you consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR to the processing and transfer to the USA.

For more information: sketchfab.com/privacy

YouTube

We embed videos from the YouTube platform. The operator is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

We use YouTube in enhanced data protection mode. According to YouTube, this mode means that YouTube does not store information about visitors to this website before they watch the video. However, the transmission of data to YouTube partners is not necessarily excluded by enhanced data protection mode.

Once a YouTube video is started, a connection to YouTube's servers is established.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).

6. Social Media

Our Social Media Presence

We maintain publicly accessible profiles on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube). The use of these networks and interaction with us on them is governed by the respective terms and conditions and data processing policies of the operators.

Where we are contacted via social networks, we process the transmitted data (e.g. messages, comments) in order to handle the relevant enquiry.
