Weddings at the Crafts Museum

The Start of
Your Story.

Civil ceremonies in one of the most beautiful historic buildings in the Oldenburg region – intimate, authentic and unforgettable.

Not the usual registry office.
But yours.

The Crafts Museum Ovelgönne is a listed cultural monument – and at the same time an officially recognised civil wedding venue. Getting married here means no waiting room, no numbered ticket. Instead, a place with soul, history and a garden that invites you to linger.

Two very different rooms appeal to different personalities – from romantically Biedermeier to raw and craft-like. Both are real.

The Singer's Room in the Crafts Museum Venue 01

The Singer's Room.

On the first floor of the historic main house sits the "Singer's Room" – named after the choral societies that once rehearsed here. Historic floorboards, exposed timber framing and the warm light of old windows create an atmosphere you simply cannot buy.

  • Style: Biedermeier, intimate and very warm – ideal for small, cherished gatherings
  • Capacity: Perfect for couples who want a small number of important people around them
  • Access: On the first floor, accessible by stairs only – not fully accessible

The Old Forge as a wedding venue Venue 02

The Old Forge.

"Forge your happiness" – for those who take this more than literally, this is the perfect ceremony space. Exposed beams, the historic forge hearth, heavy tools and the weight of generations of craft work make this one of the most unusual wedding venues in Lower Saxony.

  • Style: Rustic, raw, authentic – for couples who want no clichés
  • Highlight: Ceremony directly at the historic anvil is possible
  • Access: Ground-level and accessible – open to everyone

Personal & Close

We are not a mass operation. Just one couple per date. We take our time and shape the setting to your wishes.

The Museum Garden

Right beside the house is a historic garden – ideal for the champagne reception, group photos and the first quiet moments as a couple.

The garden as
a natural stage.

Right beside the main house lies the historic museum garden – a quiet, green space that invites you to linger after an indoor ceremony. Perfect for the champagne reception with your loved ones, for group photos under old trees, or simply for the first quiet moments as a married couple.

In summer, the garden can also serve as a venue for short outdoor ceremonies – please do ask us about this.
